Proton MPVs spotted on Federal Highway!

I suppose most of you car nuts would have seen images like these countless of times all around the blogosphere by now. Thing is, I actually caught these pictures myself - using a Nokia E71 - on my way to work say, 2-3 weeks ago. I guess Proton have been 'deliberately' flashing the public with repeated 'previews' of things to come from them, which is looking to be probably a best-seller in the making. While it appeared like a taller Toyota Wish, the butt of Proton's newest baby is more akin to Toyota Innova in chunk and contour! Expect its third row seating space to ace the Wish, Stream, Grand Livina and the likes.

Rumoured to be priced anywhere between RM72k (basic, manual version) to RM89k (for the auto top-spec), watch out for Proton's official unveiling and naming of this MPV sometime March 2009.

Very odd looking from the rear. Design-wise, definitely a no match to the more established Japanese makes. At RM72K to 89K price tag, that's not far off from Rondo or Grand Livina. Why should people check this out?

Cos it will be the freshest model on the block? ;)

Freshest model vs quality & reliability of more established Japanese/Korean makes... I choose the latter. Freshest model, if designed like the ugly Juara/Savvy means squat to me. Proton has a history of inconsistent design engineering.

Let's see the finished product first come March 2009.
I have a gut feeling this latest Proton from the 'new' management - like the new Saga - will be pretty decent, realistic and practical. Here's hoping its pricing echoes the same!
